Anna Tabbush and Rowan Piggott

Anna is a composer, choral director and musician. Born in Northumberland and brought up in various towns and villages across England, Scotland and Wales by her musical parents, she was constantly serenaded with folk songs and tunes. She started learning violin at the age of five at St Mary's school of music, Edinburgh and subsequently took up flute, guitars, piano and tin whistle, but always favoured the voice. In 2005 Anna was asked to write the music for a community play "The Princess, the Palace and the ice cold bath" which started her off on the path to becoming a professional composer. Since then she has composed music for the television series "Wildlife SOS" "The EA game" and Harry Potter "The Deathly Hallows". She is at present working on two choral commissions for the inauguration of the new Woking Mayor.

Rowan is a fiddle-singer, writer and tunesmith who grew up in the foothills of the Burren on the west coast of Ireland, surrounded by traditional music. In 2016, he won the Future of Young Folk Award at Bromyard Folk Festival and was nominated for the Malloy Award at Birmingham Tradfest. This encouraged him to record his debut album "Mountscribe" With the adoption of the rarely seen 5-string fiddle, Rowan has added what folk promotor Vic Smith describes as a "modern edge" to the traditional repertoire, and the universally admired fiddler, Ben Paley, has spoken of his versatility. Ben introduced Rowan to traditional Scandinavian music and he now plays with Anna in this duo.
