The Young Coppers
After their amazing concert for us in 2015 we decided to invite them back again. The Young Coppers are the new generation of the famous English folk singing family "The Copper Family" who have been resident in the southern coastal town of Rottingdean for over seven generations. In that time they have preserved the traditional Sussex folk songs that have been passed down through the generations creating a unique catalogue of material which is closely associated with the family. Performing a cappella with beautiful harmonies and with all of the stories passed down through the family, The Young Coppers continue the family tradition, proudly taking up the baton following the sad loss of their grandfather Bob Copper, winner of the BBC Radio 2 Good Tradition award in 2001. Featuring the grandchildren of John and Jill Copper they will continue to sing from the Copper family songbook compiled by Bob Copper and featuring reproductions of lyrics handwritten by Brasser Copper in the 1920's.
