Yule is a celebration of Christmas in song and music with TakeNOTE chamber choir and The Hyde Pipers.

The choir is a 16-strong ensemble, directed by acclaimed folk singer and musician, Carolyn Robson. Their winter programme is rooted in the English folk tradition but ranges far and wide. You’ll hear the oldest secular song in the English language from the 13 century and a modern choral work by a Canadian composer of film music. There’ll be carols because it’s Christmas and songs about trees ‘because we like them’.

The Hyde Pipers, led by Paul Tabbush, play traditional and seasonal tunes from the north-east of England on the Northumbrian smallpipes, ‘the most elegant of pipes’.
