A Concert for Ukraine

A Cozy Shanty Evening

Saturday 31 May 2025 at 7:30 PM
Alton Ambulance Appeal for Ukraine

We are raising money to buy and fit out an ambulance for Ukraine. Please come and support us for an exciting evening of eclectic music. We will also have a raffle and an auction during the evening.

Kings Pond Shantymen were formed in 2001 and over the years have performed at many events in their own patch of Hampshire and Surrey in England as well as further afield. Their repertoire covers a wide range of shanty styles: long and short hauls, pumping and capstan as well as whaling songs. All the well-known favourites are included and audience participation is actively encouraged. In addition to maritime material, They also perform a few folk ballads, drinking songs and odd ditties. They aim for an authentic shanty style: unaccompanied male voices singing together in a lively fashion with harmonies thrown in rather than pre-planned.

Cozy and The Dukes started as an unnamed trio in 2019, Leanne Clarke (vocals and keys), Phil West (cello and bass guitar) and Matt Wettone (drums and percussion) before adopting the name "Cozy & The Dukes" in 2021 and were joined by Colin Andrews (guitars). They play songs by a wide range of artists, arranged to suit their own mellow jazzy style.

They all live and work in the Alton and Basingstoke area and look forward to sharing their music at our event.
